5 mins with Nikki Gonnissen on the 2023 AGI Conference

1 year ago by

In the lead up to the AGI Open Conference taking place on 18-19th September in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland this year, we sat down with one of the featured speakers and AGI member, Nikkie Gonnissen.

You can find out more about the AGI Open Conference and purchase your tickets here.

Kia ora Nikki. Thanks for chatting with us today. We’re excited to have so many iconic designers visiting Aotearoa New Zealand for the AGI Conference.

What do you enjoy most about the annual AGI Congress and Open Conferences?

It is a great joy to be able to meet in a different part of the world every year. AGI conferences are heartwarming and super intense. We exchange, inspire and confront each other. The young and the old, all designers from completely different backgrounds. And friends for life!

As one of the featured speakers at the Open Conference this year in Aotearoa NZ, are you able to give us a peek into what you’ll be discussing in your talk?

My talk is about the importance of culture and its exchange. And specifically I want to talk about the women who have inspired me during the quest we all make. Inspirational women who shaped me, my work and my life..

Are you planning on listening in on some of the other talks this year? If so, which ones are you looking forward to most?

Of course, to all of them. it may sound silly but they are all surprising and special. You never know beforehand what touches or inspires you most at that moment.

Lastly, any tips for designers on how to get the most out of attending the Open Conference?

Be open to everything and take time to talk to everyone, there are no limits, everything is possible. We are together to learn from each other to understand how the world is changing and what we can do to contribute in whatever way we can.
