“Haere Mai Ramp 2023

In recent times, we’re seeing the escalation of the adverse effects of humanity as we lose literal and psychic space in our built and virtual environments. In some ways, art is akin to the creative act of nature, which made us think, what can the arts do to respond to this changing environment? What if nature forcibly took space back for itself? A rewilding of sorts.

Ponder this (and more) and spend the day with us!

This year we’re hosting a day-long series of speakers and events designed to encourage you to stay for the whole day. We’ve booked The Atrium, a big space for a big audience, so spend the day with us and learn from creative trailblazers from across the motu and beyond, connect with friends and colleagues and expose yourself to different ideas and disciplines to take back to your own creative practice.

We encourage everyone to begin the day with us with a powhiri so we can welcome you all (our speakers and community/audience) at Te Kōpū Mānia o Kirikiriroa Marae, we’ll then walk over to The Atrium to hear from our first speaker, designer Stuart Geddes who hails from Melbourne, followed by writer and artist Anthony Bryt and Shane Cotton.

We hope you’ll stay on to continue the kōrero and connection at our open hāngī lunch, prepared by Te Kura Papaho -School of Media Arts for our community of ākonga, kaimahi and community.

In the afternoon we hear from some inspiring wahine, ĀKAU, followed by two events, a puka puka (book) launch and an exhibition opening at Ramp Gallery.

The following two days include a design pub quiz, graduate panel and a range of hands-on workshops for Wintec ākonga across a range of taught disciplines.”
