Innovate for a Green Future

5 years ago by

It’s World IP Day on today and the theme this year is ‘Innovate for a Green Future’.
New Zealand’s future economic success will depend on diversifying our industries to lessen their impacts on our environment, and to make us less susceptible to the impacts climate change will bring to trade in physical goods.
Our creators and design-thinkers will play a critical role in advocating and innovating for a green future, and the ability of many of our creative industries to trade in ‘weightless’ exports will have the potential to contribute significantly to a low-carbon economy – but this will be reliant on our creators retaining the right to earna meaningful living from their work.
World IP Day is an opportunity for us to raise these important messages, particularly in relation to Copyright and the sustainability of the sector.
