If you have new or recent work that you would like to share in Fresh from the Field email Louise for details.

The Brief:
We Compost are Auckland’s leading commercial compostable waste collection service. Each week they collect over 40,000kg of organic waste and divert it from going to landfill.

The Response:
The visual world of composting is saturated with leaf icons, recycling symbols and overly worthy messages. It essentially preaches to the converted. Seachange studio’s solution celebrates the mighty worm — worms play a crucial role in composting. The iconic worm logo is modern and playful and speaks to the grass-roots of composting.

The worm idea is extended through a bespoke worm typeface. The distinct and ownable font has given We Compost a playful and engaging way to communicate with the public without sounding too worthy or serious.

Making the most of every touchpoint. The bin liners were an opportunity to grab attention with a traditionally dull product, so we gave them some love and developed a typographic system of ‘YUM’, which is graphically repeated over the different sized bin liners, playing on the idea that the worms will gobble up all your compostable goods inside.

Business cards highlight a compostable message, coffee cups were covered in a bold worm print for maximum stand-out in cafes all over Auckland, and an A-Z poster was created for kindergartens and schools to help educate younger children about what is an isn’t compostable.
