Fresh from the field — Hype Entertainment by Psychoactive Studios

6 years ago by

This Fresh From The Field features a website which takes users through a dynamically evolving space odyssey. The immersive experience was crafted by ‘digital amphibians’ Psychoactive Studios whose multidisciplinary team incubates beautifully intuitive solutions to tricky design problems.

The Brief:
Hype Entertainment is an event design & production company specialised in creating immersive audiovisual events. They want to transport their audiences to places they’ve never experienced before using a fully immersive synthesis of projection mapping, prop design and interactive technologies.

As the company continues to grow rapidly and put on ever more complex shows, they were in need of an engaging new web portfolio to showcase their projects, process and information. The site had to reflect the interactivity and enchantment of their live events, while still being intuitive and easy to navigate.
Using a combination of WebGL, scroll-based animation and video textures, the site takes users through a dynamically evolving space odyssey as they browse the portfolio.

The Design Response:
Using a combination of WebGL, scroll-based animation and video textures, the website takes users through a dynamically evolving space odyssey as they browse the portfolio.
The primary goal of the site was to capture the innovative vision of the company and position it as an industry leader, enticing visitors to engage with the Hype team and trust in their ability to deliver cutting edge live events. The site targets forward-thinking clients looking to put on unique, mesmerizing audio-visual events, and provides them with a concise overview of process and services.

Psychoactive opted to use a fully dynamic 3D environment to offer the required level of interactivity and immersion, transporting audiences in the same way that Hype’s projection mapping and props do. The portfolio page recreates each project directly on the web-page: on desktop, as the title is hovered, the event visuals are mapped onto a digital reproduction of the stage props.
