Take a break from your every day and join us for our second Women in Design Day: Moments of Change—an annual event dedicated to fostering community, celebration, and education among women in the design industry in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Held just 15 minutes from Auckland’s CBD at The Officers Mess, Fort Takapuna, the stunning venue has panoramic views of the harbour and will make you feel like you’re a world away.

The 2025 theme, Moments of Change, focuses on unexpected moments that shape our lives—both personally and professionally.  

Life rarely follows a straight line—often it’s defined by twists and turns, unexpected shifts that change our direction and transform who we are. These Moments of Change may come in the form of a new project, a career opportunity, a personal challenge, a windfall, international travel, becoming a parent, experiencing loss, or meeting a new person.

We will explore these moments and how they’ve shaped the stories of women in design. It’s an opportunity to reflect on how change has shaped your own creative journey and to embrace the possibilities that emerge from life’s unpredictability.

Our full-day programme is designed to inspire and connect women from across the design community, offering insights, practical knowledge, and opportunities to engage with each other. 

You’ll hear from inspiring design professionals as they share their own experiences of navigating transformative moments in their career and personal life. 

We are excited to confirm five speakers from across different decades, representing women in their 20s through to their 60s:

• Annie Dow, Founder and Owner, Dow Goodfolk and Brother Design
• Kim Pick, Group Executive Creative Director, VML New Zealand
• Alice Murray, Creative Director, Freelance
• Kyra Clarke, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Threaded
• Aakifa Chida, Graphic Designer and University Lecturer, Auckland University of Technology

The talks will be followed by lunch and variety of workshops and activities for you to choose from, including:

• Workshop: Gender & Design with Sarah Baker
• Workshop: Mindset Mastery with Rosie Holt
• Workshop: A hands-on creative activity, more details to come
• Book Club: A discussion about an inspiring book, more details to come.
• Moment to self: Take time to explore the grounds, enjoy a walk, a swim, or moments of quiet reflection.
