AUTUMN CONVERSATIONS | Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland

DA Autumn Conversations is all about connecting people to people and people to ideas.

We will explore this year’s theme of “Design and Planet” through discussions around planet-centered design and educating clients about sustainable practices.

The format for the evening will include talks from our 3 featured speakers followed by a Q&A with all of the speakers.

 

Featured Speakers:

  • Antonia Estall, Creatives for Climate | Talk title: Global perspectives on the design industry as a force for Climate impact | As the Asia-Pacific Lead for Creatives for Climate and a Textile Designer, Antonia is deeply committed to climate advocacy.  Antonia brings a unique blend of skills to her work. Her passion for driving change through creative climate action is fueled by her diverse heritage from Cook Island and her Irish roots. Antonia’s mission is to approach climate justice with an intersectional lens, making a meaningful impact in the fight against climate change
  • Kyoko Locussol | Talk Title: Green Code of Conduct: How to be sustainable in the digital world | Kyoko is a Senior Experience Designer at AKQA. Over the past 7+ years, Kyoko has developed extensive skills in user research, with a focus on empathy, collaboration and insights. In recent years, she has developed a new passion for digital sustainability after discovering the impact the digital world has on the environment. She is determined to create awareness around the topic, and set new design standards that place people and the planet at the heart of the solution.
  • Bryce Groves | Talk Title: Who speaks up for nature? Crafting insight into awareness campaign | Bryce is a Creative Director focused on amplifying changemaking projects with best-practice creative. He is a convenor of the Kiwis in Climate network, and recently completed a 1.5-year contract at Greenpeace Aotearoa.
  • Raul Sarrot | Convenor | Raul Sarrot is a multi-disciplinary designer, strategist, educator and design coach who specialises in helping enterprises incorporate meaningful design into all areas of their organisations. His international experience has been forged over 30 years working alongside a wide range of commercial and not-for-profit clients in South America, Europe and the Pacific. Raul is the Founder and Director of Freshfish, a boutique studio specialising in strategy, branding and innovation and is a part-time Senior Lecturer in a variety of design-related papers at AUT. After hours, Raul is a multi-instrumentalist musician, an experimental pizzaiolo chef and a proud father of three ‘wild on Waiheke’ grown-up teenagers!

  • 6pm – Talks start followed by Q&A session
  • 7.30pm – Event concludes
