UXBRIDGE Arts and Culture is inviting applications for two $5,000 fellowships supporting creative practice connected to East Auckland: the UXBRIDGE Creative Fellowship and the UXBRIDGE | Malcolm Smith Architecture Fellowship. The fellowships provide practical support for artists, designers, performers, writers, architects and researchers at an important stage in the development of their work.

Both fellowships reflect the organisation’s long-standing commitment to creative ambition in East Auckland, providing give practitioners a resource to develop a compelling project, extend their practice or contribute to the creative life of the area. We are looking forward to seeing proposals that are distinctive, achievable and grounded in a meaningful connection to East Auckland.

UXBRIDGE Creative Fellowship

The UXBRIDGE Creative Fellowship is open to emerging artists and creative practitioners who have demonstrated excellence and reached a pivotal point in their practice. Applications are welcomed from across the creative disciplines, including visual and applied arts, design, performance, music, moving image and creative writing.

The $5,000 grant may support the research, development and delivery of an original project, professional development, or travel. Applicants must demonstrate a substantial connection to East Auckland and propose work that can be completed within 24 months.

UXBRIDGE Malcolm Smith Architecture Fellowship

His architectural and civic legacy remains closely connected to Howick and the wider East Auckland community.

The fellowship offers a $5,000 grant to an early-career architect, architecture student or researcher seeking to advance their practice. Funding may be used for project research, development and delivery, professional development, or travel. Applicants must demonstrate a substantial connection to East Auckland and present an original, feasible proposal.
