The Brief:

My client, Lisa Almand, is a counselor and supervisor to other therapists/health professionals and was starting her own private practice after working in the industry for 20 years.

Offering kindness, honesty, warmth and openness, she wanted people to feel heard and have the confidence to explore and develop themselves and realise their potential and pathway. In the design brief, she specified including Tulips into her branding because they “cannot be manipulated, one day in a vase and they are wild!”

The Design Response:

To create a visual representation of Lisa’s services I chose a soft and muted colour scheme which was welcoming and warm, yet professional and gave the feeling of calm and hope. I chose a minimalist and linear tulip element to bring in to Lisa’s branding and feature on the website.

“Live Your Life” was a tagline which came to me while creating the logo concepts, and Lisa loved it, so we feature this on the homepage and in Lisa’s printed material. I want visitors to Lisa’s website to feel like they are stepping into a safe space, a place where they feel they can open up, and get a true feeling of what it would be like to be in Lisa’s space and to have her help them on their journey.

I built Lisa’s website using the Rocketspark platform and use Rocketspark for all my client websites as it’s a very simple and intuitive platform to use. It’s very easy for my clients to login and update any wording they require, add blog posts, or swap out images. Rocketspark manage all the security and coding of websites, which means I can purely focus on the design, flow, usability, and aesthetics of my websites.

I engaged a local Photographer, passed on Lisa’s branding guidelines, and assisted Lisa on the day of her shoot to ensure we would have the imagery she was aiming for on the website. I was also a stand-in client for Lisa which I feel really helps with the overall feeling of trust for people considering hiring Lisa’s services.
