Design Assembly is pleased to announce
Media Design School: The Bachelor of Media Design Graduate Show | ‘Unahiroa’
This showcase features the works of the graduating class from the Bachelor of Media Design (BMD) and the Graduate Diploma of Creative Technologies (Design) (GDCT) – coming in from specialist fields of graphic design, interactive design and motion design.
A three-year undergraduate degree programme, these students worked on their final year Capstone design-led projects – which had taken a whole semester of 16 weeks to complete. The Capstone project was designed to highlight the skills and wisdom that the students have learned throughout their learning journey in the BMD.
The works featured in this showcase feature themes that touches on social-mindedness, collaborative designing, community-enriching, interdisciplinary practice and culture – all driven by a genuine curiosity, and the need to improve our human experience.
This year’s exhibition theme is ‘Unahiroa’ – in which the students explain, “in Māori cosmology, Ikaroa (Milky Way) is a long fish swimming in the Night Sky. Unahiroa (Comets) are described as the scales of Ikaroa. We are the Uniharoa, the comets navigating into the night sky. Bright, determined, assured – ready to face the unknown future ahead.”
Venue: MDS First Floor (Kupe Room), 10 Madden Street, Auckland 1010
