Freelancing essentials: All about ACC webinar
This year we’ve teamed up with Hnry to bring you ‘The Freelancing Diaries’, a series helping freelancing creatives navigate self-employed life and find their version of financial success.
This quarterly content series is chocka with freelancing business tips to help you navigate running a creative business, as well as de-mystifying some of the barriers for those considering taking the leap.
With annual ACC levies right around the corner, this month we’re focusing on the top tips self-employed creatives need to know when it comes to ACC and their business.
If you’ve recently become self-employed, you may or may not be aware of the ACC levies you’ll be required to pay as a sole trader coming up in September.
In fact, all individuals employed or engaged in business activities within New Zealand are obligated to fulfil these levies. However, unlike PAYE employees whose ACC levies are conveniently taken out of their paycheck, sole traders have to sort this out for themselves.
From calculating the correct levy amount to understanding the difference between the levies to making sure you’re not overpaying what you’d actually need to pay as a creative freelancer . . . it can be a bit overwhelming.
That’s why next week we’ll be hosting a free webinar for freelancing and self-employed creatives covering everything you need to know about ACC with Hnry’s Customer Finance Manager, Sophie Parrott.
Some of the things Sophie will be covering include:
- What is the ACC earners levy? And why do I have levies as a sole trader?
- How long does my ACC cover last and what does it cover my business for?
- How do I find my job type? And what happens if I’m on the wrong job type?
- How do I calculate my ACC levies?
- ACC & Hnry: what they do so you don’t have to
This free webinar will be happening over lunchtime on 6 September and is for anyone who’s currently operating as a self-employed/freelancing creative or is considering it in the near future.
By the end of this webinar you’ll walk away with fundamental knowledge around ACC and your business, how Hnry can help you with calculating the correct ACC levies, and actionable steps you can take to check whether your business has been set up under the correct job type.
